Report 16-17/01/2010

02 02 10 - 09:11 Flatties Galore! and our little junior shines again!

16/01/2010

Saturday and the weather is spot on in fact, too good which ment that drift fishing is going to be hard due to the lack of breeze. never the less we headed to a ground off diamond bay wider than normal for this time of year and commenced. Flatties were the go! with the lack of drift it was slow but the flathead were good size with fish from 47 - 60 plus cm. Once we got the numbers up abit we then moved to Nth Bondi as this ground is abit shallower and reduces the tangles. Between all the lads onboard from Katoomba a good mixed bag of Morwong , Pigfish, Trevally, Flathead, Snapper and reef jackets were the make up of the catch, A happy lot, Nice one!

17/01/2010

Last month our junior angler from Coogee Randwick blew us all away with a 71cm Snapper so her personal challenge this month was to try to catch something else to keep up her winning streak! What could it be this month? Well Flatties were the target today so off we went. I started at Rosa Wide and the bite was slow, A few fish came on but not as good as I thought so we moved Sth and still it was slow, the fish were sort of shut down and not responding to anything. As the Southerly breeze picked up we moved to another ground that was sure to make up the numbers. Flatties everywhere! you beauty! good sized fish too. As the bite intensified I hear a YES!!! from Miranda and her rod was working pretty hard as she battled with her fish, moments later a very respectable 63cm Flatty, Boy oh Boy! her Dads got some work to do to keep up to this little champion! She's our little Ripper! Well done!

All up a good bag of Flatties
